Your Christening

Good Morning and welcome back to Scrapbookit!

I can't believe that it is almost the end of the month. That means that it is nearly time to close this month's challenge.
Have you got your entry in yet???
Only 5 days left to get your entry in!

I am here today to share with you some more projects that I have created with the gorgeous Simple Stories Collection ~ Faith.

I think I may have mentioned in the last post that I love this collection. There are so many great things about it. One of them being that a good part of the pack is made up of gorgeous journalling cards. They are in a variety of sizes and are made up with d of words, quotes and images.

What better use for them than to create some cards...

And some more..
These cards have very little too them and don't take long to put together thanks to the gorgeous papers and sticker elements!
I know these cards would not suit every need or every person but there are many people in my life that would appreciate one of these cards with a meaningful quote or word for their circumstance.

I have also been busy creating another layout using this collection.

Here is what I came up with...
Your Christening
Whilst I love this collection, I had to be very careful in my selection of papers and colours to suit a boy and a christening theme!
The quote that I have used I think is just perfect!

I also took a leap into creating something a little challenging for me... that is using lots of very busy papers. I admire Jane, my DT friend, and the way that she always seems to create stunning layouts that are very busy and filled with so much to look at. Thanks for inspiring me this month (and every month) Jane.

I added to the background page of this layout some stamping, splatters and texture.

I have used the very cool IndigoBlu 'Ink Splats' stamp with some VersaMagic and Memento Inks from my kit ~ Turquoise Gem, Grey Flannel and Night Sky

I have added some Colour Blast Snow White Colour Paste through the Scrap FX Circle Border template. Once it was dry I rubbed on some Creative Expressions - Metallic Gilding Wax - Golden Light to highlight the edges slightly.

I splattered some Navy ink around the background.

I used a star template and some Colour Blast Colour Paste - Bling to create some star embellishments for the corner of my layout.

The patterned paper under the photo was a little too busy for my liking against the rest of the papers so I have dulled it down using a thin layer of Gesso. This helps to focus the eye on the quote and photo and also allows me to journal without my writing blending into the background.

I have used a Scrap FX Wordlet - 'Christening,' for my title and have inked it with VersaMagic - Night Sky Ink. I then added a layer of Dimensional Magic to give it a nice finish.

I have finished my layout using a variety of words and images from the sticker element sheet and I have edged the layout with some more of the Gilding Wax - Golden Light.
I am rather chuffed with my layout and how it came together...even better, it was created in our caravan on our holiday!!!
Hope you have enjoyed checking out my layout!
Look forward to seeing your entry before the 30th!

A Sneaky Post....YOU ROCK!

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

I am being a little sneaky today and have jumped on to share with you a really fun layout that I have done recently!
If you follow us regularly you would know that we just had our Autumn Retreat in the beautiful Victorian town, Bright. It was a heap of fun (as it always is)! A huge thank you to Jo for her planning and organisation of the was superb!

I ran a workshop on the weekend using two of the newest Australian products on the market...Colour Blast Shimmer Pots and the Cocoa Vanilla Collection 'You Rock'!

I have stopped by to share with you the process in creating my layout that I used in the workshop. The ladies that joined me were a little unsure to begin with but in the end I believe that they were all very impressed with their creations. They were all very different to mine...which I love...our aim was to have a play with the product and to delve into our own creativity not to create identical layouts!

If you would like to follow with this process you will need the following products which are all available on the Scrapbookit Online Store (
*White Cardstock
*Cocoa Vanilla 'You Rock' Ephemera
*Cocoa Vanilla 'You Rock' Washi Stickers
*Colour Blast Shimmer Cubes - Sunshine, Tangareen Dream & Just Blue
*Colour Blast Colour Paste - Sunshine, Tangareen Dream & Just Blue
*Gel Medium
*Kaisercraft Mini Template - Woven
*Kaisercraft Mini Template -Rough Grid

I have also used plain water colour paints in my background.

Here goes...I hope you enjoy!
Step 1: Planning
Whilst this may change at the very end...I always like to have a bit of an idea in my head as to what I would like my finished project to look like. Often it dramatically changes but that's ok.
I took my Cocoa Vanilla 'You Rock' Ephemera and sorted through the pieces and placed them roughly with my photo to create a bit of a plan.

Step 2: Let's get messy!
Now that I had a plan in my mind it was time to create my background. Prior to this project I had had a play around with the products that I was using, especially the new Shimmer Cubes from Colour Blast.

The first layer that I created was using the plain water colour paints.  It doesn't matter what water colour paints you have, they all work! The only difference being possibly the intensity of the colour or quality of the colour...saying that the most expensive aren't always the most ideal. I have a variety of options and what I looked for was the colour matching with the Shimmer Cubes.

I started with the lightest colour first...I used a makeup sponge to apply the colour.

It is important to remember that the more water that you add the lighter the colour on your page and then obviously the less water the darker the colour.
You may also need to add a few layers to get the colour that you are looking for.

I continued adding the two other colours. I didn't dry the colours in between to allow for a little blending to occur. I also often squeezed the sponge and colour onto the page to make puddles that I allowed to dry naturally.

I tried not to go overboard with this water colour background as I knew that I would be adding to this the Shimmer Cubes colour.
Once happy with it I dried it off before moving onto using the Colour Blast Shimmer Cubes.

Step 3: Colour Blast Shimmer Cubes
I followed a very similar process but this time I used a larger water colour brush.
The Colour Blast Shimmer Cubes are so easy to use. You can spray water into the cube or you can wet your brush/sponge and collect the colour.
Again, I layered the colour to get the intensity that I liked and I also squeezed the water and colour from my brush to make puddles. I was able to create drips of colour by doing this.

The shimmer is hard to see in photos...but it is absolutely gorgeous!

Step 4: Gel Medium and Shimmer Cubes
I decided to add another texture to my layout using Gel Medium and the Colour Blast Shimmer Cubes. Basically I used a small amount of Gel Medium and some of the Shimmer Cube 'Just Blue' and mixed them together on my craft mat.
Try not to use too much water in this process as it takes away the texture from the Gel Medium when it dries.
Once the colour is mixed through I applied it to my layout in random places using one of the new Kaisercraft Mini Templates - Woven.

  I allowed this to dry.

Step 5: Colour Blast Colour Paste and Splatters
I then used another of the new Kaisercraft Mini Templates - Rough Grid with the Colour Blast Colour Pastes. This is the darker colour squares that you can see on the page.

The last thing I added to my background were some splatters using the Colour Blast Shimmer Cubes.
To do this make sure you add plenty of water to the colour and flick your brush around the page.

A few tips with the cubes...(From the Colour Blast website)
*Make sure that after you have used them that they are completely dry before replacing their lids.
*Do not expose them to direct heat...they will melt. If you find that they melt, take the lid off and allow them to dry out before replacing their lids.

I was pretty happy with how it was looking with my photo...

I then added all of my Ephemera back on and started to adhere it to the page. I found it was easier to use a strong glue rather then double sided tape as the page had lots of textures and was a little warped!
I also added some of the washi stickers (which don't feature in this photo).

After I had put it all together I decided that I needed a couple of feature areas close to the edge of the page to finish of the layout. I also went around the squares from the Rough Grid Template with a black pen to highlight them.
Here is the final product...

Well, I hope you have enjoyed today's post featuring Cocoa Vanilla 'You Rock' and Colour Blast Shimmer Cubes...I am so addicted to these products at the moment :)

Be sure to grab these products from the online store and share your layout when you are done on our Facebook Page! I love seeing what others have created.
If you were in the workshop on the weekend I would love it if you could share your gorgeous creations with everyone on our Facebook page.

I will back on Thursday with my next share for this month.
Have a great afternoon!

Good Morning from Retreat

Good Morning everyone,

I am coming to you from our fantastic Autumn retreat today, 21 fun girls all with the same passion.
To have fun with paper and glue.

I am back to share a few more layouts I have created with the Cocoa Vanilla Wild @ Heart range.
There is so much in these packs that you can create so many projects all with a different feel.

Firstly I have this 'Happy Moments' of my two beautiful girls with their dad.

These layouts are fairly simple but with the range of embellishments available and the bold colours of the patterened papers it's easy to put them together.
I love all the butterflies in this range, and here I have used some Colourblast paste with a Dusty Attic stencil.

Well I'm off to have some more retreat fun, I hope you have a wonderful weekend and don't forget to join in our May challenge. Entries close on the 30th.

Beautiful Girl.

I would like to wish a very Happy Mother's Day to all those Beautiful Mum's out there, especially mine! I hope you all got very spoilt and enjoyed a relaxing day.
I am here to show you all my second layout for May, once again using the Gorgeous PhotoPlay Rhapsody #THINKTOREMEMBER paper pack.

This Layout I have done is of my Beautiful niece Remi Hilary, she is wearing a gorgeous little beanie that I crocheted for her, I think she looks just adorable and I have been wanting to do a layout with this picture for a while now but didn't have the right paper until now!! I think it's a perfect match!

I have started with a piece of Kaisercraft  card stock then layered a lot of the different Rhapsody papers on top.

The Beautiful Girl title is from the matching sticker sheet as well as all of the other stickers on the page. I had a lot of trouble choosing which ones to use so I pretty much used all of the ones that I didn't use with my first layout using this paper range.
I think this is the first time that I have ever used a FULL sticker sheet in just two layouts.
I have backed my photo with some pink paper from the collection and the little stars are also from the sticker sheet.

My little Kaisercraft wooden flourish I have applied some Versa Mark then added some Colour Blast Embossing Powder in Lipstick..
I have also added a few little puffy stickers that were part of the Cocoa Vanilla Love Always puffy sticker collection. I finished up my layout with some doodling around the edges with a black fine liner..  This finishes the page of nicely!

That's it for me this month, I hope that you have enjoyed my layout and if you love this paper or embellishments I have showcased this month then head on over to and stock up on some supplies.

Are you coming to the Circus with us??
All of us girls here on the Scrapbookit design team are starting to get extremely excited as we only have 4 sleeps to go until Retreat.. YAY!! It will be so nice to spend the weekend with a group of like minded people scrapbooking, learning new techniques and ideas and just having Fun in general.
We look forward to seeing you all there!
Happy Scrapping

I believe…

Good morning everyone and thanks for stopping by here at Scrapbookit!
So glad that you could join us this month.

Jane has set a fantastic challenge this month…whilst I was quite daunted at the beginning I seemed to cover all of the aspects easily in the end. Thanks heaps to Jane for challenging my thinking and providing a challenge that moves beyond the normal challenges that we are all used to.

The aspects of the challenge are as follows:

1. Use the mood board as inspiration

Mood Board

2. Use a photo of yourself or at least a photo with you in it
3. Include a mixed media element

4. Include one of the prompts

Jo has sent me a gorgeous Simple Stories collection to work with this month. It is the gorgeous recent collection ‘Faith’

Simple Stories - Faith

When I first received it I started imagining layouts using the trillions of photos that I had of Baptisms and other religious sacraments over the years. I was so excited! It is very rare to find gorgeous, religious themed papers.

Here is what I have created…

This layout uses photos from my son’s Confirmation Day and I obviously appear in two of the three photos (one of this month's requirements).

A great thing about this paper collection is that there are so many journalling cards and other elements that you can use to create your projects. My background paper is the  ‘Charity’ page however, the flowers in the bottom corner did not suit the theme of my layout. So, I used some of the 4x6 Horizontal Elements to create a ‘cover up’ I suppose. There were two Faith, Hope and Love and Believe that suited the background perfectly.

For this challenge, the Mood Board is to provide inspiration. I have done this in a few ways…some a little far fetched. Firstly, I have used some of the pastel colours found in this board (well, as best as I could). I used a tag in my layout which is featured on the board. I have used the feathers as a representation of the feathers on the ends of the sticks and finally I included the quote ‘ Focus on what is important to You’ - this quote is a little bit of my life motto at the moment.

My mixed media element is the use of one of the Kaisercraft Designer Templates - Grunge. Whilst this layout is not a ‘grungy’ layout, I thought that this template worked well with the cross pattern for my background. I have mixed some Gel Medium and Colour Blast Shimmer Dust - Navy to use with the template.

I then splattered some Distress Spray Stain - Tarnished Brass in the background.

I decided to use the prompt ‘I Believe…’ on my layout for two reasons. The first because the quote from the mood board is definitely something that I believe in and secondly to relate to the religious aspect of the layout.
For the letter ‘i’ I used a Doodlebug - Loopy Lou Cardstock Sticker from my collection. I altered the colour of this to suit the layout using the VersaMark Chalk Ink - Night Sky. I found that I had to spray a small amount of hairspray over this to set the colour.

I have added some cute little Kaisercraft - Wooden Flourishes - Heart Buttons to the layout, which I have painted with the Distress Spray Stain - Tarnished Brass. I have included one on the journalling tag. I made this tag using some Mosaic Moments - Navy cardstock and a 3x4 Journalling Card Element, which I have journaled on.

I have finished the layout with a few heart stickers and other sticker elements from the Faith Collection. I have used some Dimensional Magic on the hearts to highlight them.

Thank you Jane for a great challenge. Make sure you show Jane how much you love her challenge by joining in this month. You may also have the chance of winning a pack from Scrapbookit.

Remember, you can share your creations on our blog using the Inlinkz linkup, you can share them on our Facebook page (@scrapbookitshop) or by emailing them to

Be sure to pop back over the rest of the month to see what else Jo and Jane have created.

I look forward to also seeing what you come up with for this months challenge. Remember entries close May 30.

Cocoa Vanilla Wild @ Heart

Good Morning,
A new month, A New challenge and Jane has really set me a challenge this month.
But I think I conquered my fear of using photo's of myself (even though they are a bit quirky).
I have been playing with Cocoa Vanilla 'Wild @ Heart 'range this month.
As always Zoe hasn't disappointed with this beautiful floral range that has so many fun embellishments that are in the range.

For the challenge requirements I have used the promt 'I Wonder', I have used triangles and a tag from the moodboard and loosley used the same colours (well sort of haha). My mixed media element is the Kaisercraft thatch stencil, I mixed the new 'Lindy Stamp Gang's' Magical shaker 'Guten Tag Teal' with some Matisse Irridescent Medium, I also sprinkled some around and then sprayed it with water to give that darker colour.
My title is some Amy Tangarine stickers and I added some glitter dots , some quote stickers and a little tag from the range. My photo's have the chipboard frames from the range on them.

I look forward to seeing your take on Jane's challenge, don't forget you can add your entry from your blog via Inlinkz, email, or the facebook page.
Entries close May 30th so get crafting girls I want to se those Selfie's.

Enjoy your day
